10 Reasons to Visit Toronto

Are you trying to decide where to vacation this summer? Here are 10 attractions within the Toronto area enjoyable for all members of the family.
1. The CN Tower. Standing over 1,815 feet on Toronto’s waterfront, the world’s tallest tower is a must-see. From the top viewing deck on a clear day you can see all of Toronto, and more! Ride up on the glass-walled and glass-floored elevators, take in the spectacular scenery from two levels of observation decks, and enjoy a meal at 360 – the revolving restaurant 351 metres above the city streets.

2. Canada’s Wonderland. Located 10 minutes north of Toronto, Canada’s Wonderland is the country’s biggest theme park with hundreds of rides from children’s village to extreme thrill rides. Wonderland boasts an incredible 20-acre water park, games and souvenir shops, concerts and live children’s shows including sensational divers who leap 66 feet off the mountain’s Victoria Falls, the park’s central focus.
3. Ontario Place. This waterfront park offers rides, shows, educational programs, a water park, and the Cinesphere movie theatre with an 80 x 60 foot Imax screen. Just look for the big white ball in Toronto’s harbour.

4. Canadian National Exhibition (CNE). This 130-year-old fair on the lakeshore is open from mid August until Labour Day every summer. Rides, games, exhibits like the Auto Show, The Horse Show, and the Boat Show, candy floss and caramel corn are all part of the CNE experience. And don’t forget the Food Building where tasty foods from around the world can be sampled.

5. Professional Sports Teams. Toronto has professional teams in all sports: Baseball’s Toronto Blue Jays, hockey’s Toronto Maple Leafs, basketball’s Raptors, football’s Argonauts, Soccer’s TFC, and Lacrosse’s Rock.
6. Ontario Science Centre. Located in the north-eastern part of the city, the Science Centre offers activities and demonstrations on every area of science. From making your hair stand on end through static electricity to seeing your face formed through lights and falling water. The Science Centre can keep you busy all day indoors on a bad weather day.
7. Casa Loma. Built over a three-year period in the early 1900’s by Sir Henry Pellett, the castle is a popular tourist attraction. Tour the elegantly decorated suites, explore secret passageways, visit the horse’s stables, and roam through the 5-acre garden. Children will enjoy live shows in the Conservatory, the Library and the Billiards Room.

8. Live Theatre. New York is not the only city in North America boasting live shows. Recent musicals include The Jersey Boys at the Toronto Centre for the Arts, The Sound of Music at the Princess of Wales Theatre, Dirty Dancing at the Royal Alexandra Theatre, We Will Rock You at the Panasonic Theatre, as well as Disney on Ice at Rogers Centre.
9. Centre Island. Hop on a ferry and float over to Toronto’s Centre Island. Enjoy picnics on 600 acres of parkland which includes Centreville, the island’s own amusement park with over 30 rides and attractions and 14 food outlets.
10. Street Festivals. Parades and performers can be enjoyed for free at such festivals as Caribbana, Word on the Street, Beaches International Jazz Festival, Pride Week, Toronto International Film Festival, and Molson Indy.
Museums, art galleries and many malls also add to the diversity and enjoyment of this clean, friendly, and entertainment-filled city.

Very good article. Certainly says alot about all the many wonders, and great things to see around Toronto. Then there’s always lots more besides these places to see if someone is really looking for things to do.

Been to Toronto many, many times and have been to Casa Loma but never went up to the top of the CN Tower. One day maybe. The Toronto Ex is busy but fun.

You’re right! There are many things to do in Toronto! We saw a lot of your suggestions while we were there a few years ago. I really liked Casa Loma. Did you know there have been several movies that have filmed segments there? X-men is the only one I can remember of hand.
