Take a Scenic Drive and Come to The Fair.
Agricultural Fairs in Ontario Canada.
I have always enjoyed going to the fair. It’s trully a special time of year, the leaves are a vast array of colours. The harvested fruits and vegetables, delicious baked goods and jams and jellies, the sounds and pungent smells of the farm animals, the fiddle music and a vast array of other sights and sounds that beckon like no other event. This year I decided to enter exhibits in domestic science and flowers. Its was quite a process, first I had to obtain the prize book then decide what to enter, then obtain labels written by the fair directors then gather my stuff together and take it to the local arena on the fairgrounds. There are many displays and exhibits including students and teen entries. There are horse pulls and tractor pulls log sawing contests and vendors of many kinds. The size of the cabbages some bigger then a ordinary sized pumpkin and the pumpkins and big as people. Then there are the rides and the tea tables and of course the pink cotton candy yum. It took me are day to bake my pies and gather and arrange my flowers. Since this was my first time entering I was surprized to find I had one second prize for two of my pies, ( a blue ribbon cash and a gift bag) and third prize for two of my flower arrangements ( cash prizes). Now I don’t think you can realize what an accomplishment this is, most exhibitors have been doing this for years and I am a new comer as I only moved here a few years ago. The Prizes are given out at a agricultural society dinner in October.
I hope you will try and visit one and sample some of the great treats and enjoy the fun activities with your family or just meet new friends.

Wow, Lauralu. That is terrific. I grew up a few blocks from the Iowa State Fairgrounds and the fair was always one of the biggest events of the year. I know exactly what it took to win those ribbons. That is really great.
