Oregon Coastal Pleasure

Along Highway # 101 on the Oregon coast are many delightful sights, I share with you one of those beauties.

In between the towns of Lincoln City and Newport, Oregon lie some jetted rock formations that seem to be a real sightseeing place for many travelers and locals alike. It might not be in the book of things to see or places to go before my writing; but I don’t know that as a fact. If you happen to read about Boiler Bay, in Depoe Bay, Oregon, you will be familiar with it by reading this information.

During the winter months when the storms are prevalent on the Oregon coast, especially in Depoe Bay, the activity at Boiler Bay is breathtakingly lovely. As an avid storm watcher, I say those words since the water takes on a wonder all its own for me during turbulence.

Oddly enough, it is possible to see body surfers all year long in this part of the Pacific Ocean. With the tepid air, with a wet suit, mind you, surfing with boards is sometimes better watched than experienced. It takes a seasoned surfer to negotiate the waves that are sometimes very strong. The usual water temperature is generally 56 to 58 degrees F. Rarely does it vary from season to season, which is why there are not many people in , enjoying the body or board surfing.

There is adequate parking to view the Boiler Bay as well as to see the vast Pacific  after the curve of the area lends itself to the great sea. Be prepared with a jacket if you expect to get out of your vehicle as the cool sea mist bites all times of the year. Boiler Bay is not lighted, so you will need to visit during daylight hours. You will be thrilled with the magnificence of that area.

Sounds like what we are experiencing around here at the moment Goddself. The ocean is very angry with high winds and the air has a certain chill about it. We wait patiently for spring lol. Great article and lovely read

Your ocean is much different than ours in Florida. More interesting. Is there still an Oregon Trail?

I have always loved the ocean and it’s beauty while respecting it’s lethalness!
Although surfboarding at Boiler Bay is not something I would ever entertain doing, Boiler Bay’s magnificence is definitely something I’d love to see!
Wonderful write! :)
