How to celebrate the Fourth of July in Philadelphia the right way.

Philadelphia is the birthplace of American independence, so what better place is there in America to celebrate the Fourth of July? Here are some great ideas for the Fourth of July that will make you want to start making travel plans to Philadelphia right now.

Sunoco Welcome America Philadelphia Celebration

Sunoco is sponsoring a Welcome America Philadelphia celebration in Philadelphia that runs from June 28th to July 6th this year. The event is based around the fireworks display and celebration on the 4th that is held on the steps of the Art Museum on independence day. During the nearly two week long celebration there will be concerts, food and cultural events, and other live performances. Specific events include the Taste of Philadelphia that weekend, a Strong Arm Competition, a Party on the Parkway, and an Ice Cream Festival on Penn’s Landing.

If you are looking for a great place to enjoy that special day, be sure to come to Philly. You can view a calendar of events at Americas Birthday.

Spirit of Philadelphia

The idea of sailing down the water on a party cruise on the 4th of July with food and fun abounding is extremely titillating. The Spirit of Philadelphia cruise lines are celebrating the fourth with special cruises down the “mighty” Delaware River. You will have a chance to view the beautiful Philadelphia skyline and dance the night away with someone you love. Very romantic.

These cruises will probably book up fast for that particular weekend, so be sure to call in advance. You can find more information at Spirit of Philadelphia.

Visit the Liberty Bell, Tour the City

If you want a more historical approach to Independence day in Philadelphia, get in town early and take a tour of the historical landmarks in the city. There are several tours to experience, including the Ride the Ducks boat tour which goes to pretty much every place in the city of Philadelphia that you would want to see to remind you of the day our country achieved independence, including the Liberty Bell, Independence Mall, the Betsy Ross house, and the National Constitution Center. Funny tour guides and a trip down the Delaware River in this bus/boat doesn’t hurt either. Philly Ducks.

A trip to Philadelphia for the Fourth of July holds an experience that people, both young and old, can appreciate. The Fourth will be here soon, so start your planning session today!
