This is a hidden gem in central Pennsylvania that is really worth a look! A very unique landscape is just waiting for you to find within its passages…

Bilger’s Rocks is a hidden gem located deep in the heart of Central Pennsylvania. It sits back from any main roads between Curwensville and Grampian, PA. But with directions, it isn’t hard to find!
This is the destination for anyone who are explorers at heart! You never know what you’ll find as you walk within it’s passages and caves. The constant twists and turns form a sort of maze that let you discover your own path.

Bilger’s Rocks is a 300 million year old sandstone formation with caves, cliffs, passageways, and other unusual features. Visitors have come from all over to experience this magnificent ecosystem that is home to unique plants and animals.

The trails vary from easy to difficult, so you can choose which areas you want to see. Some areas are hidden and can only be accessed by maneuvering through narrow passages, but are well worth the time! Pictures don’t do this place justice, it’s something you need to see for yourself!

Copies of the walking tour are available, but most people prefer to explore on their own. Be advised that sturdy shoes and clothes appropriate for hiking are recommended. People who choose to venture into the caves and smaller crevices should carry a flashlight, and be aware that temperatures inside can be much cooler than the outside temperature.

While exploring, you can find one-of-a-kind carvings in the rocks. The Walking Tour papers show you where to look for them. No matter what you choose to do there, you will find something of interest!
Bilger’s Rocks is open to the public for day use at no cost. There is also camping available from a $5.00 to $10.00 donation. Pavilions can be reserved for events as well. The Bilger’s Rocks Association holds several events throughout the year, so it would be a good idea to check them out.
To get there, there are 3 easy ways.
From Grampian, turn on 6th Street and follow the signs. Buses and other large vehicles may wish to take the turn from US 219 just north of Grampian and follow the signs.
It can also be accessed from the Greenville Pike. Follow SR 879 about 1.5 miles out of Curwensville. Turn right onto the Pike and follow the signs.
