The Kirby, Formerly Known as the Busch Building

The first in building my portfolio.
This is my current home. Downtown Dallas Texas. Who would have thought that this small town country boy would find his peace and joy in such an urban environment. I do not know how long I will be here, but at least for then next year this will be home. I absolutely love the city life, sidewalk cafes, restaurants galore, and clubs with almost any music you would like. Speaking of which, I have found a love for jazz at a place called Pearl, but that is getting off the subject. The Kirby, built in 1913 is reaching her centennial. The Kirby and her older sister, The Adolphus were both built by Adolphus Busch in the early 1900’s. The loft that I live in has hard wood floors that are as old as the building itself. The view from my 11th floor windows are directly over the Pegasus Plaza on Main Street. Speaking of views, there are some great ones from the roof top pool area on the 18th floor where there is obviously a pool, hot tub and an outdoor kitchen. This area is open to the residents and guest 24/7 and is also available to reserve for a residents private party. I have been here for 2 1/2 months now and practically everyone that I have meet is friendly and sociable. The staff of the building is also very accommodating, professional and friendly. The building is built in a traditional gothic style, however with current renovations it has a bit of a modern flare on the inside. This is the first post of hopefully many. I started this blog to create a portfolio for a new career path in travel writing. Even though this post does not really consist of actual traveling, I know that somewhere, someone is looking to come to Dallas. Hopefully, they can find this blog and it will inspire them to visit this wonderful city. This is also the first of many about the sites of the downtown area. To all: Travel well and travel fun.
