Things to Do and See in Vancouver Bc

This article focuses on some of the wonderful amenities of Vancouver British Columbia. Everything from posh dining and shopping, to extreme sports to endless green spaces, Vancouver has something to offer to everyone.

As the beautiful city of Vancouver BC prepares to host the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, there are many wonderful things to see and places to go for visitors and gamers alike.  One of Vancouver’s finest haunts for tourists is Stanley Park, home to the infamous Sea Wall.  Over seven kilometers long, the Seawall surrounds the perimeter of massive Stanley Park. It serves as a place for people to enjoy a break of city life by giving them a piece of natural beauty right in their back yard.  The Stanley Park Seawall sees thousands of people every year, including Vancouverites and tourists alike.

Another wonderful place to see is gorgeous Lonsdale Quay.  A quick jaunt across Burrard Inlet, North Vancouver is known for its posh homes, upscale shopping and dining, and countless parks with nature trails and bike paths.  At Lonsdale, one can enjoy the breathtaking view of the Downtown Vancouver skyline, or take in the sights and sounds of the city’s busiest water way.  The Seabus is a transit service for people who don’t wish to tackle the Lions Gate or Second Narrows Bridge… all for the price of regular bus fare.

There are so many places to go and things to see.  Of course, outdoor sports are very popular in this city, which is surrounded by calm blue sea and massive purple mountains.  If skiing is your thing, you can try stunning, world class Whistler Village or Black Comb Mountain.  If hiking is on the agenda, people can visit the Grouse Grind for an awesome workout.  The snow capped Lions serve as a backdrop for the massive, sparkling towers of the downtown core.  Of course, there are wonderful places to visit downtown Vancouver as well.

Robson Strasse is known for its quaint cafes, upscale boutiques and unique European flavor.  If a day of hard core shopping is on the traveler’s to-do list, this huge centre has virtually every shopper’s needs under the sun, including exclusive flagship Holt Renfrew store.

Of course, the night life is bustling, and such clubs as Richards on Richards is been known as a top spot for partiers and night-lifers.

If high culture is more on the visitor’s mind, Vancouver has such theatres as the Orpheum and Queen Elizabeth Theatre which hosts everything from operas to ballet, Symphony to choirs from all around the world.

If fine dining with smashing views are all important, the Harbor Centre tower is the ideal place for visitors and urbanites alike.  It is a revolving restaurant, which shows a three hundred and sixty degree panoramic view of the city, inlet and park.

All in all, there is something for virtually everyone in this highly cosmopolitan and rapidly growing metropolis.  Vancouver sincerely hopes that all who enters her borders have a wonderful time at the games and that everyone who visits her has a beautiful time.
