The most popular natural attraction and tourist destination in Australia.
Almost half-a-mile from the southern shores of Victoria, Australia, is a breath-taking sight of a group of limestone sea-stacks. This natural wonder was originally known as the sow and her pigs, but it was renamed as The Twelve Apostles in 1950.
The freezing winds from the south and the roaring waves devoured on the soft limestone walls of the coast here.
In November 2005, a complete stack was gobbled by a wave and was dissolved into the oceans in a matter of only seconds.
They are a spectacular sight from the cliffs as the wave crash against them, making it the most visited tourist destination of Australia during the autumn-spring season.
Twelve Apostles comes under the marine national park of Australia. A good number of tourists enjoy their vacations here. Divers are even permitted to the wrecks and to the underwater canyons called the arches.
A wide variety of fishes, underwater tunnels covered with sea-weeds and seals zipping into tunnels and underneath arches makes it even more stunning.
This is one of the three most popular natural attractions in Australia.
